“How much does Family Tree Detectives charge for their services?”
Our rate is $130 for 5 hours or $190 for 8 hours. We love what we do so we try to keep our rates
as low as possible.
“I would love to find out more about my ancestors! What do I do now?”
“It’s EASY! Go to the LET’S START DIGGING page and follow the steps listed. If you have any questions while completing the information, we’re just a phone call or email away! Let us do the digging for you! Wait for your Family Tree to arrive in the mail (or in person if you live locally!) in about 2-4 weeks.
“I don’t know all of the information requested on the form. What should I do?”
Don’t worry! Just fill in what you DO know. If you know only very, very little, perhaps there is an older relative who can help will in some blanks. Either way, we can always work with less information that what the form is requesting.
“I think I know where my great-grandfather came from, but I am not completely sure. Should I put it on the form anyway?”
Absolutely! Put any information on the form even if it is an educated guess and mark it with a (?) so we know it is just a guess. If you are not sure at all and have no idea, just leave it blank.
“The Family Group sheet looks very overwhelming! HELP!”
The Family Group Sheet does request a great deal of information but you only need to fill in what you know. Don’t be overwhelmed by it. We can always work with less. If you can list the husband and wife, along with their children and approximate dates of birth, that would be great. If you know more, wonderful. If you know less, just fill in what you can.
“What is the correct way to write in the dates?”
We can work with the date written just about way (4 Jan 1967, Jan. 4, 1967 or 1/4/67), but PLEASE be consistent with all dates throughout the entire form.
“What is the correct way to fill in a location?”
If you know the complete location (town, county, state, country) please provide all of that information. If you only know the town and state or only the country, we will work with that as well.
“What type of information will I typically receive with my Family Tree Packet?”
“Our Chief Detective will package up all the information we can find in this time and send you the following:
1.) Your family tree, with as much information as we can uncover.
2.) Up to 20 printed pages of documents, including – Birth Certs, Marriage Records, Cemetary records, Military information, immigration papers, etc.
3.) Web links or .PDF files of any additional records, longer articles or photos we find
4.) A brief summary of our findings with suggestions of where to continue the search….
