Wonderful! You are ready to start your adventure! Follow these simple steps to begin your journey:
1. Click on the Family Tree Detectives Intake Sheet HERE. Kindly type in all of the information, save it to your computer and email it back to us at familytreedetectives@yahoo.com as soon as possible.
2. Upon our receipt of your Intake Sheet, we will email you a PayPal payment invoice. Kindly complete the payment through PayPal. Once we receive confirmation of payment, we are ready to begin! If you choose to pay by check, please us know and we will email you mailing instructions.
3. We will then email you our Ancestor Chart and Family Group Sheet. Complete
them to the best of your ability and do not worry if you cannot complete them in full. Remember, we can always work with less!
4. Once you have completed Ancestor Chart and Family Group Sheet, sit back and let
us do the digging for you! (Be sure to ready our FAQ’s!).
Once you have opened the Ancestor Chart, follow the instructions below:
- For Person #1, list the main person you want searched. For example, if you want to search your paternal grandfather (your father’s father), then list him with all the necessary information that you have available. You may not have ALL of the information, but that is okay. We can work with less. Just fill in what you know. If you fill information that is just a guess, please indicate that with a (?).
- Next, fill in the information on Person #1′s parents, to the best of your ability, marking with a (?) the information that you are guessing on. Person’s #1 parents are listed on the top with the father on line #2 and the mother, below on line #3. Remember to use maiden names for any mothers listed. Continue this pattern as far back as you can go. Remember, we start with that we know and work backwards.
After you have the Ancestor Chart completed to the best of your ability, start working on the Family Group Sheet.
A Family Group Sheet lists the parents in a family along with their children. AGAIN, only fill in what you can and if you make a guess, just place a (?) next to it. We know the form looks a little intimidating with what it is requesting, but you only need to fill in what you know. We can always work with less.
You only need to fill out the Family Group Sheet for the main people you want searched. For example, if we are searching your paternal grandfather (your father’s father), if possible, fill out a charge for him with him listed as the husband, along with his wife and children. Then, again, if possible, make one out with him as the child and go back as far as you can.
TIPS:
- Remember to fill in the places as completely as possible, listing the city, county and state if you know it.
- Middle names are important. Include them when know.
- With women, always list their full names, including maiden.
- If you know someone had a nickname, please include that as well.
- Include any and all helpful information you may have.
